When I was growing up my mother had a sweet tooth for fudge. Usually on saturday nights she would make her favorite fudge and we would all have some. She also made popcorn and we would gather around the Tv.

I suppose this is why I also have a fondness for fudge. The fudge was made from Hershey's Cocoa. The recipe I'm sharing is that fudge.
You need to remember two things to have success in making this fudge and the first being mix the ingredients well and do not stir at all once the mixture begins to boil.
The second thing to remember is temperature. You must cook the fudge to the soft ball stage and then remove the pan from the heat.
Soft Ball stage 238 degrees
Once the pan is off the heat add the butter and vanilla.
Take a wooden spoon and beat the fudge and then pour into a buttered dish.
This is a very good fudge and it will get hard if you remember the two most important steps.
I lined the dish with buttered foil to cut the fudge outside of the dish and then put the fudge back into the dish.
3 cups sugar
2/3 cup Cocoa
1/8 tsp. salt
1/4 cup butter
1 tsp. vanilla
1 1/2 cups milk
Put the burner to medium and in a large pot mix sugar, cocoa salt and milk. Mixing well and using a heat proof spatula wiping the walls down good as you mix. As soon as the mixture begins to boil insert a candy thermometer and let sit until temperature reaches the soft ball stage. 238 degrees. Then remove from heat.
Add 1/4 cup butter and 1 tsp. vanilla. Beat well with a wooden spoon and pour into a buttered dish.
