Banana Nut Bread

I was in the mood for some banana nut bread. This bread is baked at 325 degrees F. instead of 350 degrees F. I baked mine for 1 hour and 15 minutes.

Happiness is
something to do
something to love
something to hope for.
-Chinese Proverb

Yields: 1 Loaf
Preheat oven to 325 degrees F.
  • 1 cup sugar
  • 1/2 cup vegetable shortening
  • 2 eggs
  • 2 cups flour
  • 1/2 cup chopped walnuts

  • 3 soft, freckled bananas, mashed
  1.  Cream sugar and shortening; add the eggs, flour, soda, bananas, and chopped nuts.
  2. Pour banana bread batter into 1 greased and floured pan.
  3. Bake at 325 degrees F. for about 1 hour and 15 minutes or until knife inserted in center comes out clean.

  10. Yumm! We love banana bread. I'd have to make two loafs... One for hubbs with the nuts and one for me without. That's one area of the food spectrum where we definitely don't have the same tastes.

    Have a great weekend!

  11. Good Morning Pat,
I just love the musical interlude, it brought tears to my eyes reminding me of my little ole Irish Grandmother, she was so special to me. Your Banana Bread looks so warm and inviting, great recipe! Hope you have a great week end and thank you so much for sharing with Full Plate Thursday.
    Come Back Soon!

  12. Banana nut bread is one of my absolute favorites that I often return to. I'm always sort of happy when I have some bananas that are turning brown in my kitchen, because it means I have an excuse for making some banana bread - can't let those bananas go to waste! Your bread looks wonderful!
