I know there are a few ways to make pretty roses to place on cupcakes or cake. Fondant roses may not be as real looking as others but they're fun and easy to make. If I can make them any one can.
Fondant comes in different colors I used pink fondant for my roses. No special tools are required only a zip lock baggy, and some Rolled Fondant. I used the Pink Rolled Fondant by Wilton. It comes ready to use. I did line my work area with wax paper. I saw this done once and I am going on my memory of how to do it. This is my first time at making them. You could probably do it much better than I.

To begin, make some little balls a little smaller than marbles.
You are going to put this ball on the zip lock baggy simply fold it over and flatten it in a longated piece .
This is going to be the center of the rose. begin rolling it up.
The next step is to take small pieces of fondant and flatten into circles or pieces that are wider at the top and narrow at the bottom. These will be the rose petals.
Make them as thick or as thin as you want, experiment with it.
You will wrap your petals around the middle of the rose and over lap them. Put as many as you want and do opposite sides. You can fiddle with them and get them the way you want and then your going to pinch off the excess at the back so you can sit the rose down and it will sit right. You now have a rose to place on your cup cakes or cake. Sorry my photography needs a little work.
Two finished roses made with pink Rolled Fondant.
Hope you will try to make some of your own.
Once your fondant roses are made don't let the fondant box fall over and smash your roses as I did. As I try to restrain myself and... I'm back.
