These are super chocolaty and walnuts would go well with these if you have them. I didn't have any.
If you are more of a cake brownie person these aren't for you. These are very moist and very easy to make. You could even top them with a scoop of vanilla ice cream and chocolate syrup if you desired.
You will need:
8 oz. bittersweet baking chocolate, broken or chopped
1/3 cup butter, cut up into pieces
1 cup white granulated sugar
1/4 tsp. salt
2 T. water
2 large eggs
1 tsp. vanilla extract
3/4 cup all-purpose flour
1/2 cup chopped walnuts ( optional)
Pre-heat oven to 325 degrees F.
- In a small saucepan over a very low heat, add the chocolate, butter, sugar, salt and water. Heat stirring often until the chocolate and butter are melted.
- Pour into a mixing bowl and stir in the eggs, one at a time. Stir in the vanilla. Stir in the flour. Stir in the nuts if using.
- Pour into a lightly greased 8-inch square baking dish.
- Bake for 35 minutes. Cool completely before cutting into 9 squares.
